Early Years Apprentice

Purpose of the role:

Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children Give support to other personnel within the nursery Implement the daily routine in the base room Promote equal opportunities and inclusive practice Maintain professional conduct and practice in accordance with statutory regulations and stated policies Be responsible to the Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and Room Supervisor Operate a programme of activities suitable to the age and development range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff and contribute to curriculum planning and assessment as required Keep a proper record of achievement file on your key children, for parents Work with the parents of children with special needs to give full integration in the nursery Support all staff and engage in a good staff team Liaise with and support parents and other family members Be involved in all out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, Christmas party To be flexible within working practices of the nursery.  Be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack, meals, cleansing of equipment Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that mission statement of the nursery is fulfilled Record accidents in the accident book Look upon the nursery as a “whole”.  Where can your help be most utilised? Be constantly aware of the needs of the children Ensure the child is collected by someone known to the nursery Respect the confidentiality of information received Develop your role within the team, especially with regard as a key worker

Complete specific childcare tasks:

The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child’s stage of development Ensure that mealtimes are a pleasant social sharing experience Washing and changing children as required and encouraging independence as appropriate Provide comfort and warmth to a poorly child Ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious background and stages of development Be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times Maintain such records and registers as may be required in accordance with statutory regulations and nursery policy, e.g. curriculum planning and baseline assessment, accident records Assist in the supervision of staff as required Undertake other duties as may be requested by the nursery manager or deputy

Training:
Early Years Educator Apprenticeship Standard Location- Finkills Way, Town Centre, Northallerton DL7 8UQ Working 5 days per week inclusive of 1-day release for study at Darlington College

Training Outcome:
There may be an opportunity to secure a long-term position after successful completion of the apprenticeship

We aim to provide a warm welcoming environment where children are supported to reach their full potential according to their individual needs

Working Hours :
18 Months (this does not include End Point Assessment) to include a 3 month probational period. Working week details Monday to Friday between 7.30am-6.00pm, for a minimum of 30 hours per week
