Rail and Rail Systems Engineering Apprenticeship

This new cross industry engineering scheme means you will not only get valuable experience by working on projects for Network Rail, but you will have several placements with our partners in the industry:

The apprenticeship lasts for 3.5 years and each of our apprentices will specialise in an engineering pathway, either Track, Civil, Signalling & Telecoms or Mechanical & Electrical.

While on the scheme you will be balancing part-time education at university, learning the fundamentals of railways, and supporting rail project engineering teams, renewing, and enhancing rail infrastructure for the benefit of passengers. You will also undertake industry led training to gain an appreciation of the railway as a complex system including design and construction work.

You’ll find yourself working a variety of shifts patterns, travelling to various sites, and working across a mix of weather conditions whilst always having the health and safety of your colleagues at the forefront of your mind.



Training:
You will attend a series of 4-day study blocks at Sheffield Hallam University The degree award is BEng (Hons) Railway Engineering
