Apprentice Carpenter
You will spend 1 day per week at college during term time and 4 days on site.
You will be:
Preparing and installing basic building components, for example, doors, straight staircases, wall and floor units Erecting structural carpentry and roof structures on a building site Discussing plans and job instructions with site supervisor Cutting and shape timber for floorboards, doors, skirting boards and window frames Making, lifting and fitting structures like staircases, door frames, roof timbers and partition walls Assembling fitted and free-standing furniture Installing cupboards and shelving Building wooden supports called shuttering which holds concrete that has not dried yet in placeTraining:

The practical training period of the Carpentry apprenticeship is the time dedicated to the development of the knowledge, skills and behaviours for which includes the following components;
On-programme assignments and assessments Practical assessments Workplace portfolio of evidence English and Maths at Level 1 must be achieved and take the English and maths test at Level 2Day release at Cambridge campus and working alongside qualified, friendly and a small team of professionally trained/ experienced Carpenters.
The apprentice would be assigned an assessor through the college, who would typically come out to visit in the workplace to assess workplace competence. The knowledge side would be provided via day release workshop attendance, assignments, evidence of workplace competence. Portfolio would be checked via an online Smart Assessor.
Training Outcome:
Completion of your apprenticeship and become a fully qualified site carpenter.
