About the Role:
Do you enjoy working outdoors and making a difference in your community? We’re looking for Ground Maintenance Operative to work in Exeter. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces, helping to ensure they remain welcoming for everyone.

Ground Maintenance Operative Key Responsibilities:

Remove litter, empty bins, and clean public toilets or car parks as needed. Address small-scale graffiti, fly posting, weed growth, and overhanging shrubs. Conduct basic inspections of facilities and report maintenance issues. Identify reactive tasks requiring specialist teams (e.g., grass cutting, tree work, deep cleaning). Highlight issues such as fly-tipping, damaged furniture, stray dogs, abandoned vehicles, and illegal use of council land. Follow safety protocols and complete training on the safe use of equipment and working practices. Work across various shift patterns and duties, including city centre sweeping, van routes, car park cleaning, and deep cleaning. Maintain basic records, such as play equipment checks and timesheets.

What We’re Looking For:

A reliable and proactive individual who takes pride in their work. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining public spaces to a high standard. Flexibility to work across different tasks and shifts. A full, clean, manual UK driving licence is essential.
