Health and Environment Technician Apprentice
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Health & Safety Support
Assist in compiling and analysing statistical data on accidents, incidents, and near misses. Support the investigation of incidents and help identify root causes and corrective actions. Help maintain and update health and safety records, including risk assessments and COSHH assessments. Assist in the development and review of health and safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work. Participate in departmental health and safety meetings and contribute to the Health & Safety Improvement Group. Support the implementation of the Control of Contractors Policy by reviewing contractor safety documentation and monitoring compliance. Help coordinate and track training requirements, including maintaining training records and supporting the delivery of toolbox talks and briefings.Communication and Engagement
Promote health, safety, and wellbeing information across the organisation. Draft content for newsletters, bulletins, and internal communications on health and safety topics. Assist in preparing reports and presentations for meetings and committees. Act as a point of contact for health and safety queries, including DSE assessments and incident reporting systems.Systems and Administration
Support the administration of health and safety systems such as Accident/incident reporting and DSE self-assessment tools. Help coordinate and manage the periodic inspection of equipment under LOLER regulations. Assist in managing a training and qualification matrix, coordinating refresher and renewal courses as required. Assist the Asset Controller with managing assessment of equipment in line with the Control of Vibration and Noise at Work Regulations.Training:
You will be supported to achieve the Safety, Health and Environment Level 3 apprenticeship. Theoretical training will be delivered with the support of the training provider. Practical training and support will be given in the workplace, allowing you to embed your learning in the working environment. You will receive 6 hours per week to support your apprenticeship studies.
Training Outcome:
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, we aim to offer a permanent role within the team if a position is available. Alternatively, we shall endeavour to secure an alternative position within the City of London Corporation.

Working Hours :
Monday to Friday, 9:15am - 5pm core hours. Flexibility will be required for business needs.
