Apprentice Machining Technician (Level 3)
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and self-inspect parts
Measuring tools used Vernier’s, Callipers, Micrometres, Gauges etc.
Taking measurements and marking material for cutting or shaping
Selecting appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
Setting and Operating CNC Machine Tools (in line with your capability/progression)
Manual Turning
Learn a range of machining strategies to increase accuracy and productivity
Utilise driven tooling to reduce machining times
Learn to adjust a range of machining parameters to maximise machining outcomes
De-burr/polish finished parts
Maintain the machine shop and machines as required
Training:
Apprentices attend Loughborough College 1 day per week during term time
Dedicated trainer/assessor to visit the apprentice(s) in the workplace
Training Outcome:
Progress into a full-time permanent position as a qualified Machining Technician
