Engineering Apprentice

The person joining our manufacturing team will be trained in the following engineering areas, working with experienced staff who will guide and mentor. We understand everyone is different and will work to support this as much as possible.

Mechanical build Electro-mechanical Build Panel Assembly Ability to work on small assemblies undertaking intricate wiring Ability to work on electrical assemblies and harnesses Experience of panel assembly, soldering and crimping, wiring/cabling Computer literacy, working to documentation from defined sources

Training:

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in  Worcester (WR4 9GN):

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Years 1/2 is a combination of off the job training at HWGTA Training Centre as well as training on site with your employer. This includes 26-42 weeks within the training Centre plus 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects and complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge.

Years 3/4 based full time in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification.

Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.

Training Outcome:

We have an established route for ex apprentices who go on to many different roles in our company, such as engineering customer support, quality, product design.

Working Hours :
Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 16.00 with 30 minutes unpaid for lunch. Friday 07.30 to 13.00 no lunch break.
