Fabrication and Welding Level 3 Apprenticeship
An apprentice welder fabricator at KGD will have duties including
Ability to read and understand technical drawings Develop number and measurement skills Welding using multiple processes in numerous materials Cutting Folding Base-frame Fabrication and fabrication skills Tank fabrication Vessel fabrication Pipework, fabrication and welding (site based and factory based ) Assembly skills – manufacturing maintenance Inspection and testing skills Manufacturing Sequences Quality AssuranceTraining:
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Hereford (HR4 9SX). Depending on the vacancy title, you will be undertaking either a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship.
Level 2 comprises of:
Duration approximately 18 monthsBlock release training which includes 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects working to complete the following qualifications:
EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills) EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge)Level 3 comprises of:
Duration approximately 40-45 months. Years 1/2 is a combination of off the job training at HWGTA Training Centre as well as training on site with your employer. This includes 26-42 weeks within the training Centre plus 1 day per week in a classroom setting to cover practical and theory aspects and complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge Years 3/4 based full time in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Level 3 qualification.You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.
Additional training for functional skills in English and Maths will be undertaken if needed.
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
Training Outcome:
On successful completion of an apprenticeship with KGD you will be offered a full-time position within the company, this will include a Pension and Sickness scheme.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday, 08.00 - 16.30. Paid mid-morning break, half hour lunch break unpaid.
