Environmental Health Apprentice

The apprentice position is for a minimum of 48 months. During this time, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience when completing the BSc (Honours) Environmental Health Degree at Middlesex University.

To supplement academic knowledge, the apprentice will be provided with a wide variety of work experience opportunities. These opportunities will also extend outside of normal working hours, as Environmental Protection run the Out of Hours Noise Service, offering further learning potential.

Throughout the 48 months, the apprentice will have dedicated mentors, who will support them during the apprenticeship.

The role will include both remote and office working from the Civic Offices.

Main responsibilities:

Support officers with domestic nuisance and public protection case work Investigate complaints of statutory nuisance and public protection with supervision Assist with planning consultations Assist with licensing application consultations Attend committee meetings where appropriate Support the pollution control permitting process Support the air quality monitoring regime

Training:
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to learn and gain experience when completing the BSc Environmental Health Degree at Middlesex University Apprenticeship study will be undertaken within normal working hours. Time will be allocated to attend training and complete assignments, workbooks, online training etc. as required by the qualification The role will include both remote and office working from the Civic Offices

Training Outcome:
At the end of your apprenticeship you will be supported to further your career. All University BSc tuition fees will be paid, so this is a fantastic opportunity for any person looking for an exciting career in this diverse profession. As the successful candidate's experience grows there will be a requirement, at times, to assist in the investigation of nuisance outside of normal working hours, where service demand requires.  The successful candidate will be expected to remain at Thurrock Council for a minimum agreed period following successful qualification.
