Electrical, Control and Engineering Apprenticeship
Routine inspection and maintenance and electrical repair of fuel storage plant and equipment
Carry out planned maintenance activities and defect rectification
Overhauling of electrical systems making use of appropriate machinery / hand tools
Responsible for the filling out of job sheets, planned maintenance cards etc
Carry out PPM and extra work requirements in adherence to set engineering standards.
Understand a full range of electrical tasks
Training:
3 / 4 year apprenticeship
First two years will be in conjunction with Southampton City College on day release three or four days a week
Years 3 and 4 are based at the Gosport OFD site under a mentorship scheme
Training Outcome:
The progression would be into an EC & I Technician, but the OPA also offer progression routes into various Engineering and Project Engineer roles
Employer Description:
The OPA are a statutory public corporation, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, with the responsibility for the operation, maintenance and management of six Naval Oil Fuel Depots and one underground facility on behalf of the Secretary of State for Defence.
The OPA is also currently supporting Air Command and UK Strat-Com with a number of Fuel Assets across the UK and overseas.
Working Hours :
Whilst a the Depot the working hours are:
Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 15.30 and 07.30 to 15.00 on Friday.
When at college they need to comply to the college working hours.
