Level 3 Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Apprentice
As an Engineering apprentice, you will undertake learning and development to become an accomplished Technician in one of two areas:
Electrical Engineering apprentice will gain practical experience in a unique scientific environment and help deliver complex technical solutions for a diverse range of scientific applications. Working with a highly trained team of electrical technicians and engineers to design, assemble, install and test specialist electrical equipment for UK and international research programmes. Providing frontline support to operational accelerators including fault finding, mandatory testing and planned maintenance.
Mechanical Engineering apprentices use novel and technology-enabled processes to contribute to the manufacture and integration of mechanical parts and assemblies. This supports a broad range of engineering requirements on both large and small precise sizes using Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) and conventional machining techniques. You will also support work in vacuum, gasses, cryogenics and mechanical design.
Training:
To support your chosen discipline, you will undertake professional development and training as part of a cohort of Engineering Technician apprentices, you will study the practical elements of the course at Riverside College in Widnes and the theoretical elements at Cronton College also in Widnes completing a Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship.
Training Outcome:
Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Engineering Technician - Mechatronic Pathway with the possible opportunity of a permanent position with STFC on successful completion of the Apprenticeship. Progression will be discussed on completion.
