Senior Childcare Solicitor

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting a qualified Senior Childcare Solicitor to join a local authority in London on a 6 to 12-month contract. Please find below further details regarding this position.

ROLE: Senior Childcare Solicitor
LOCATION: West London (Hybrid working available)
CONTRACT: 6 to 12 months, 36 hours per week
RATE: £50-55 per hour LTD – rate would depend on PQE, experience and interview performance

Please note this would require office attendance once per month (with occasional additional hearings).

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal advice on child protection, care proceedings, and other social care law issues. Manage a diverse caseload and ensure timely progress of cases. Represent the Council in hearings and trials, undertaking advocacy as required. Collaborate with Children’s Services and other departments to deliver legal guidance. Conduct legal research and contribute to strategic decision-making. Attend meetings with client departments and external stakeholders.

The Candidate

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX with current eligibility to practice in England and Wales. Strong experience in child protection law, care proceedings, and judicial reviews. Advocacy skills and ability to manage complex cases. Previous work within a local authority would also be essential.
