JOB DESCRIPTION
Tasks PROFILE:
Typical tasks for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:
Unloading bulk resin, solvent, and propane tankers Managing proper levels in the bulk tanks through communication with production and scheduling Entering data for all materials received into the SAP program Operating and managing both the distillery unit for the production of the company's solvent recovery system, and the can crusher for the production of the company's aerosol raw material recovery Operating and managing both the caustic cleaning system to assure let down tanks are clean for production, and the waste water treatment system for proper disposal of the materials generated in the company's water base cleaning cycle Operating a forklift safely and efficiently Properly identifying all the different waste streams and disposing of them in accordance with both our company's policies and EPA regulations
Responsibilities/Expectations:
Communicate with Supervisors, peers, or subordinates: provide information to supervisors and co-workers in written form or in person. Maintain a good record of attendance and punctuality. Learn all manual tasks performed within the department. Perform tasks assigned using specific operating procedures, and following department specific quality control processes and procedures. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION DUTIES/TASKS:
Satellite Hazardous Waste Accumulation
Production tank/Cleaning/filling
Production Utility Operators may have to dispose of product samples, line flush, off-spec product, or expired product retain samples. This waste material is transferred to the hazardous waste satellite accumulation drum. Production workers clean equipment and tanks pre-rinse, wipe, scrub, and final rinse surfaces using wash solvent, brushes and rags. Dirty solvent is transferred to the satellite accumulation area. Transfer used wash solvent to the satellite accumulation drum or tank. Ensure hazardous waste storage or accumulation containers remain sealed except during the addition or removal of waste. Ensure Hazardous Waste storage containers are clearly labeled "Hazardous Waste." Care must be exercised when introducing waste into the satellite accumulation drum. Do not drop on floor or area. In the case of any spilled material, spills or drops shall be cleaned up immediately. When 55 gallons has accumulated, the satellite accumulation container must be moved to a permanent hazardous waste storage area within 3 days and relabeled "Hazardous Waste."
REQUISITE SKILL, EDUCATION, OR OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and understanding of the chemical characteristics of the wastes which they are assigned to handle or control (i.e., flammability, toxics, incompatibilities, etc.). Type of protective equipment and clothing to be worn. Knowledge of what to do or who to notify in the event of a release, fire, or explosion. Knowledge of communication and alarm system. Know procedures for using facility emergency equipment. Predetermined responses and methods to control releases, fires, or explosions. Ability to shut down operations.
