Teaching assistant apprenticeship

Assisting the class teacher in delivering a varied and engaging curriculum. Building positive relationships with children to support their development. Working with small groups or individual children under the guidance of the teacher to help them with specific tasks or activities. Supporting the implementation of learning interventions, such as phonics or numeracy programmes. Helping with general classroom duties, such as preparing resources and tidying up. Assisting with administrative tasks, like taking the register or photocopying. Supporting the supervision of children during play and lunchtimes. 

Training Outcome:

Completing a Teaching Assistant apprenticeship provides you with the skills and experience to support pupils in the classroom and help teachers deliver high-quality learning. After this apprenticeship, you could progress into roles such as:

Experienced Teaching Assistant / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – taking on more responsibility, such as leading small group work or covering classes. Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support – specialising in supporting pupils with additional needs. Learning Mentor or Pastoral Support Roles – providing guidance and support for pupils’ wellbeing and behaviour. Teacher Training – with further study and qualifications, you could progress into becoming a fully qualified teacher.

This apprenticeship gives you a strong foundation to build a long-term career in education, with plenty of opportunities for further development.
