Childcare Legal Assistant

Service Care Legal are currently seeking a motivated and proactive Childcare Legal Assistant to join a local authority based in the East London region. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in childcare law or a keen interest in working within this fast-paced, rewarding area.

ROLE: Childcare Legal Assistant
LOCATION: East London
RATE: £18.00 to £20.00 per hour (Umbrella)
CONTRACT: 3-Month Rolling Contract

Please note that this role would require office attendance at least 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide essential support to the Safeguarding Team in childcare and care proceedings. Assist with the preparation of legal bundles, applications, consent orders, and other legal documents within care proceedings. Respond to routine queries and support with fast-paced, ad-hoc tasks. Work closely with the Head of Safeguarding and team to ensure the timely and effective completion of tasks. Handle administrative tasks efficiently and accurately, ensuring that all documentation is in compliance with relevant legal standards.

Key Skills & Experience

Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in childcare law (preferably within a safeguarding or care proceeding context) is desirable. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in drafting legal documents. Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to fast-changing priorities. Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
