Role: Purchasing Manager Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 Basic + Car Allowance £5,200 + Bonus of up to 12.5% Location: Sheffield Type: Permanent Overview 2Fawcett are recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to join a company located in Sheffield on a permanent basis.
You will strategically develop and maintain the supply chain and product portfolio, aligning with the Commercial and Business Strategy.
You will actively contribute to the control of cash flow/position through management of inventory levels, turn and forecasting You will drive strategic improvements in the management and availability of key product categories allowing for greater commercial opportunities and improved service delivery You will lead and manage the Purchasing Team, providing support of day-to-day activities.
The Role & Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager • Develop and sustain strategic purchasing plans in line with the Business and Commercial Strategy • Identify, review and introduce new suppliers for existing/new products.
This will incorporate global travel • Actively negotiate and manage LTA’s, SLA’s and pricing structures with suppliers, subcontractors or any other key business contacts to ensuring delivery of value maximisation • Monitor stock and scheduling against existing & forecasted demand, ensuring maximised availability of key product categories • Analysis stock gaps and lost sales due to product availability, and make recommendation for adjustments in the product portfolio • Accurately manage, forecast & report on the product portfolio, stock levels/turn, working capital seeking achievement of business KPI’s • Take overall responsibility for the control and management of stock, including ERP records and physical reconciliation • Regularly review and act against supplier performance ensuring achievement of service deliverables • Create and maintain an accurate database of suppliers by product category • Control and manage external purchasing limitations such as mill production capacities, import quotas and supplier credit limits • Manage and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers/customers/clients both internally and externally • Prove accurate and timely communication of suppliers/market knowledge and information to aid tactical and strategic decision making • Act as a point of escalation for enquiries, expediting and supplier disputes where necessary • Provide monthly reporting and narrative against business & departmental KPI’s • Investigate and manage any NCR’s or failings resulting from the actions of supplier or within the Purchasing Team, applying any necessary CA/PA accordingly • Actively seek out and implement opportunities for improvements in working practices and processes • Provide a duty of care, support, personal development and coaching to any employees reporting into the Purchasing Manager • Regularly liaise with supporting departments and the senior management team to provide business critical data to support the operation.
Skills you will require in the Purchasing Manager • At least 5 years purchasing experience is essential • CIPS Level 4 or above is essential • Proven purchasing management skills essential • Previous experience of establishing and maintaining LTA & SLA’s • Previous experience of leading change management programs and team building • Cost Management responsibility • Willingness to travel globally • Experience of dealing with overseas suppliers • Strong Negotiation Skills • Strong communicator • IT Literate • Attention to detail/accuracy • Initiative and innovation • Flexibility • Problem solving & analytical skills • Leadership & Management • Self-Motivated • Health & Safety Awareness
