The Role

Set-up and make sure machines are running to the required specifications and standards and to make sure down time is minimized and uptime is maximized.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure all working procedures are followed and that all paperwork is completedEnsure a clean work area and maintain the housekeeping standardSet machine and processing equipment to specificationUse the product flow chart to optimize the products runningUse the moulding concern procedure when necessarySet and load mould tools and dies to machines and processing equipment using SMEDAdjusting machine settings to maintain process to specificationCarry out Process monitoring checks using Statistical Process Control techniquesAnalyze and implement process improvement solutionsWorking in development teams to introduce new materials, products or process technologyAdhere to quality control procedures within this areaMaintain a clean, safe working area at all timesEnsure scrap is removed by the correct method / procedureAdhere to equipment safety procedure and safe method of workAdhere to mandatory PPE requirements at all times.

Analytical & diagnosticTroubleshooting and problem solvingAble to work in teamsGood communication skillsMechanical aptitudeAble to work unsupervisedKnowledge of the properties and processing behaviour of polymer materialsGood mechanical and engineering knowledgeBasic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systemsFamiliar with analytical/diagnostic tools SPC, FMEA, SMEDHealth and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry S/NVQ in Polymer Processing and Related Operations L2 ORS/NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations L2 ORS/NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations L2 OREngineering Apprenticeship to include a L2 S/NVQ (e.g. Materials Processing and Finishing) and a L2 'Technical Certificate' (e.g. Progression Award in Production Engineering: Composites) ANDRelated Job Experience
