Community Coach Apprenticeship
Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.
This role will be a collaboration between Castle Point Leisure and Sporting Memories, a charity and social enterprise that helps older people to reminisce, replay and reconnect through the power of sport and physical activity.
Launched in 2011, Sporting Memories supports a wide range of people aged 50-plus, including those living with dementia, living with depression or facing isolation and loneliness to improve their mental and physical wellbeing through our regular club sessions, situated within local communities across England, Scotland and Wales.
The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and as a coach with Sporting Memories you will be helping to run fully accessible and inclusive group sessions that are physically and mentally stimulating as well as games combined with supporting sporting reminiscence sessions.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Supporting activities within a weekly Sporting Memories Club within the leisure centre including preparation.
-Admin support for Sporting Memories Club connecting with Members and volunteers.
-Referral connections – connecting with referral partners in the Community.
-Facilitating inclusive activities (including travel) in other settings (e.g. care homes).
-Facilitating inclusive seated physical activities and games in Leisure Centre
What your apprenticeship includes:
-A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
-A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
-Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
-The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)
- Working towards a level 2 Community Activator Coach apprenticeship over the course of 12-18 months

Runnymede Leisure Centre is based in Benfleet behind Castle Point Borough Council Offices. It was extended from a swimming pool to include an Exercise Studio, Spin Studio and Fitness Suite in 2018. We run a wide range of activities with something to suit everyone at Runnymede Leisure Centre and all our activities are great value for money. Runnymede Leisure Centre is fully DDA (Disability Discrimination act) compliant and designed for disabled users to access all areas. We have disabled parking available, a Changing Places changing room and pool hoists to help you in and out of the pool.
Working Hours :
30 hours a week, exact shifts to be confirmed.
