Apprentice Radiotherapy Radiographer

To work within clearly a defined accountability framework To demonstrate clinical competence developed through training received, continual professional development, reflective practice and maintenance of a skills portfolio relevant to the service specification To recognise and address risk factors appropriately to patients/clients and carers within the healthcare setting and feedback appropriately to the registered practitioner To ensure that the department’s identification policy is adhered to and that all patients and any individually customised equipment are correctly identified prior to undergoing irradiation To report any incidents, untoward incidents, complaints and near misses to self, patients or carers to the appropriate professional within the stated timescales Use ARIA and other relevant IT systems used by the service. To reschedule patient appointment and machine schedules as required Complete and maintain effective patient records accurately, respecting confidentiality issues and in line with the Trust’s confidentiality and Information Governance requirements and the data protection act To undertake the booking of planning & treatment appointments for some treatment sites, working alongside the Scheduling Team To undertake duties on reception, pre-treatment and tretament areas working alongside the radiotherapy assistant team

Training:
Therapeutic Radiographer Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard

Training Outcome:

The BSc(Hons) Therapeutic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship enables practitioners working in NHS hospitals and specialist radiotherapy centres to train as qualified Therapeutic Radiographers, over a three-year period

Graduates are eligible to apply to register with the Health Care Professional Council.
