Maintenance Surveyor


We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Surveyor to join our team. The core responsibility of this role is to carry out property inspections, with a primary focus on damp, mould, and disrepair surveys. You will be tasked with identifying building defects, conducting thorough investigations, and providing accurate diagnoses to ensure timely and effective remediation of issues, including damp-related problems.


Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive property inspections and produce detailed condition reports. Identify and specify remedial works for direct labor operatives (DLO) and oversee contractors to ensure high standards and timely project completion. Provide expert damp and mould investigations in response to tenant complaints and problematic properties. Offer training and advice to the Response Surveyors team and handle customer complaints professionally. Support legal processes by producing high-quality reports and attending court as a witness when required.


Ideal Candidate:
Qualifications & Experience:

Relevant technical qualification (HNC or higher) in Building, Surveying, Damp Remedial Works, or a similar field; alternatively, 6+ years of relevant experience. Strong understanding of disrepair legislation, the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act, and HHSRS assessments.


Skills & Abilities:

Proficient in time management and delivering on deadlines while maintaining performance and budget targets. Confident user of IT tools, especially MS Word, with experience in producing written reports and floor plans. Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly to contractors, customers, and colleagues, adjusting delivery to suit the audience.


Additional Requirements:

Full driving license and access to a vehicle, as the role requires travel across Hampshire, Wiltshire, and occasionally into Dorset, Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall.


Location:
This position is primarily based in Hampshire/Wiltshire, with occasional travel across our operational regions.
