V03159 - Advanced Apprentice Electrical Fitting

During the Maritime Electrical Fitter Advanced Apprenticeship, you will develop a range of different engineering skills and underpinning knowledge to successfully complete this apprenticeship. Throughout your apprenticeship you will gain valuable experience working on maritime vessels which will culminate in you completing your End Point Assessment. 

The Maritime Electrical Fitter Apprenticeship has a typical duration of 48 months, the first year of which, is spent in our Skills and Development Centre located in Portsmouth Naval Base. During the first 12-months of your programme you will undertake a range of practical engineering activities that are supported by our dedicated Engineering Skills Coaches.

The Electrical Fitter must comply with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements, and you will be trusted to work both independently and as part of a team. On completion of the apprenticeship, you will be able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that you undertake and will be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas to improve business processes.

Specific activities could include:

Electrical Fitters will utilise engineering drawings, data and documentation in order to undertake the manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning, fault diagnosis, maintenance, overhaul and removal of electrical and data systems on maritime vessels. This covers propulsion machinery, weapons, sensors, and auxiliary systems (such as water, air conditioning, electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, power generation and distribution). It requires knowledge and expertise in the use of common and specialist electrical equipment, machines and hand tools, and the use of a variety of measuring and diagnostic equipment and processes to ensure individual components and assemblies meet the required specification

Training:

Maritime Electrical Fitter Level 3. 

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.



Training Outcome:
