Early years practitioner (level 2) apprenticeship

As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside qualified staff within the preschool setting.

The apprentice will work both inside and outside, providing learning opportunities for the preschool children. Change nappies as required and support children's toiletting needs. Support staff in the cleaning of toys and classrooms as appropriate. Develop understanding of the EYFS statutory framework and how it’s used throughout the nursery to support child development, planning, observing and interacting throughout a range of activities. Attend weekly training sessions to gain Level 2 qualification and complete coursework set by tutor.

Training:
The apprentice will be given time each week for training, and completing coursework as set by their tutor. They will attend regular progress reviews and recieve ongoing support from a mentor and their tutor. The tutor will visit the preschool to observe pre-planned activities, to assess how the apprentice interacts with the children. There will be an end point assessment to complete at the end of the apprenticeship to achieve the qualification. Additonal key skills training in Maths and English will be provided if necessary.

Employer Description:
Brightside Preschool is an Early Years setting located at Breaks Manor in Hatfield. We provide sessional care for children aged 0-5 years between 8.50am and 2.50pm, Monday to Friday during Term Time. 'Showing Young Minds the Brightside in Every Day' At Brightside Preschool we provide a warm, friendly and nurturing environment where children can thrive and develop at their own pace. Children are free to play and explore both inside and outside, with practitioners on hand to support and extend their learning. Through our diverse curriculum, we will 'show young minds the Brightside in every day', introducing them to new topics and experiences, exploring the children’s individual interests and encouraging their natural curiosity. Our teaching methods are inspired by a range of theories of children's learning and development including theorist such as Reggio Emilia, Maria Montessori and Jean Piaget. Our homely environment is located within the ground floor of Breaks Manor, with direct access to the gardens. We encourage the children to spend time outside every day, climbing, exploring and being active. We also enjoy our weekly Tots Tennis sessions with 'My Tennis Coaching'.

Working Hours :
The preschool operates during term time for 38 weeks of the year. Working hours are from 8:30am-3:15pm, with a 30 minute lunch break.
