V03114 - Intermediate Apprentice Ancillaries

Working safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines, in accordance with training standards, including mandatory SHE training.

During your apprenticeship you will gain many skills, you will also gain experience of working safely in accordance with operational requirements and associated Safe Systems of Work. 

You will be delivering services and support activities to operational departments such as but not limited to:

Confined Spaces 
 
Selection of correct material and equipment when setting up a confined space (extraction hose, Safety Air Monitor). Using hand held atmospheric monitors to measure the confined space prior to entry. Managing permit to work submissions on the confined space management system. Routine inspections of confined spaces throughout ship yard, including access and egress arrangements and correct lighting. Suspending any confined space that doesn't meet the requirements. Examination of/and replacing extraction to the confined spaces to ensure it's suitable. Understand and gain knowledge of gas concentrations. Working to the process and Risk assessments including safe systems of work. Managing calibrated equipment on a daily basis. Selects and prepares consumables, materials, components and equipment. Checks the completed activity to ensure that all operations have been completed to meet the required specification.

Temporary Protection

Select and prepare consumables, materials, components and equipment. Assessing and measuring specific items to ensure that the protective equipment manufactured to templates, aligns with the size of the item to be protected. Operating the sewing machine to construct the protection, then installing the protection onto the equipment. Working to standards set out to ensure quality is maintained throughout build. Using various hand tools to manufacture protection required to protect ships assets. Using systems of protection within high value locations of the product.

Abiding by workmanship standards and risk assessments.



Training:

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
