Early Years Apprentice

Undertake activities with individuals or groups to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and educational development Carry out activities and programmes of learning whilst promoting independent learning Work to establish a supportive relationship with children and parents Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all children Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence of pupils Assist with the development and implementation of individual plans Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils Provide feedback to pupils Undertake structured and agreed learning Undertake programmes linked to learning strategies and feed back to the teacher Supporting the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use Preparing, maintaining and using equipment/resources required to meet the lesson plans/relevant learning activity and assist pupils in their use Monitoring the needs of individual children and reporting these to their designated supervisor as appropriate Assisting teaching staff in the planning and delivery of work programmes for individuals and groups of children. These programmes may be delivered in a supervised or unsupervised capacity Assisting the teaching staff in the smooth transition between educational phases Creating and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils’ work Using strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals and contribute to raising achievement Assisting with the planning of learning activities / lessons Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed Providing detailed and regular feedback to the teacher on pupils’ achievement, progress, problems etc Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour Establishing constructive relationships with parents/carers Administering routine tests and undertake routine marking of pupils’ work Attend meetings as required Undertake training as required Assist with pupil supervision Accompany staff and pupils on trips

Training:
Level 3 Teaching Assistant - 4 days with employer and day release at college Location - West Park Academy, Alderman Leach Drive, Darlington Term time only plus 5 days Working 8.15am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday and finishing early on a Friday

Training Outcome:
There may be an opportunity to secure a long-term position after successful completion of the apprenticeship.
