Level 2 Apprentice Bench Joiner
Material Selection and Preparation: Understanding the properties of softwoods, hardwoods, and manufactured boards; selecting the right material for the job; preparing surfaces for joining
Tool Proficiency: Mastery of hand tools (chisels, saws, planes) and power tools (routers, sanders, drills); routine maintenance and safe use
Joinery Techniques: Learning classic joints such as dovetails, mortise and tenon, box joints, and finger joints; practice in assembling and gluing components
Technical Drawing Interpretation: Reading drawings, measuring and marking accurately, scaling drawings to correct dimensions
Machinery Operation: Training on fixed workshop machinery like table saws, spindle moulders, and thicknessers, with an emphasis on safety
Quality Assurance: Inspection skills, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring products meet client specifications and safety standards

Carpentry and Joinery Level 2.

Training Outcome:
Successful apprentices can work as qualified bench joiners, progress to supervisory or managerial roles.
Employer Description:
SJP supply specialist and general joinery products to a wide range of clients spanning both the commercial and private markets. Based in Essex, and with a history of high quality product since 1993, our typical service package would include estimation, design, procurement and first rate manufacture.
Working Hours :
Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4pm, shifts, may work evenings and weekends.
