Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographer at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust

You will join a multidisciplinary team in a supportive environment, working under the direct supervision of our qualified and registered Therapeutic Radiographers to deliver a safe and high-quality radiotherapy service.

Your placements will include time with the Radiotherapy CT and Planning team, the Treatment delivery team and the wider clinical, administrative and technical teams so as to gain an understanding of the entire cancer pathway.

You will provide radiotherapy treatment and patient support, in line with Trust and departmental policies and procedures, under the direct supervision of qualified staff.

You will liaise with other staff members in the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure the care and wellbeing of our patients throughout their treatment is the very best possible.



Training:

The programme at Sheffield Hallam University is delivered via block attendance on campus, with set blocks in each trimester. There would be an expectation to travel to campus and stay in accommodation locally for these blocks.



Training Outcome:

Upon completion of degree apprenticeship and registration with HCPC you will be provided with preceptorship support and further training should you wish to further your career in this field.

We provide a full range of general hospital services to around 500,000 people living in the south of west Kent and parts of north east Sussex. Many of the people we serve live in the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells area. In addition, the Trust provides cancer services through its cancer centre at Maidstone and Canterbury Hospitals, and ophthalmology services to the people of Medway.

Working Hours :
Weekdays Monday - Friday (4 days per week). We are a 7am to 8pm department and a 7.5 hour shift would be worked within that. No weekend working whilst on apprenticeship, but once a full band 5 they would work occasionally on call and bank holidays.
