Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprentice

On a day-to-day basis as a Lean Manufacturing Operative at your workplace, you will be carrying out your work safely and meeting the high-quality standards set in a fast paced and well organised environment. Your duties will include:

Travelling all over the UK and occasionally Ireland Working in various industries including: aerospace, construction, defence, manufacturing, marine

Creating temporary weather coverings and environmental containments, by:

Draping, positioning and cutting large sheets of polythene Use heat torches to weld & shrink sheets Working at height Lifting & moving materials, tools & equipment Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Working safely at all times

Training:
All aspects of your training will be delivered on-site with your employer As an apprentice you will receive from your employer 6 hours each week for your off the job training, this included as part of your working weekly hours. Off the job training is there to help with your learning and development of the knowledge, skills and behaviors as part of your apprenticeship standard. Majority of these 6 hours will be spent on site with your mentor learning, along with having time set aside away from your normal day to day working environment for you to complete study time in which will help you with the completion of targets set by your assessor (e.g. workbooks, online learning, research, self-study). You will also have regular site visits every ten to twelve weeks from your designated assessor, who will monitor your progress throughout your apprenticeship program

Training Outcome:
Potential for the candidate to progress through the company and gain experience within all sectors. The main aim is to bring somebody into the team and for them to develop and become a key team member We are looking to invest our knowledge, skills, and time in the right person. We help our customers protect high-value products and prestigious sites, limit weather delays and avoid environmental contamination by creating flame retardant covers, that shrink-to-fit drum-tight and are 100% recyclable. Formed in 2004 by two colleagues returning from a business trip to the States, where shrink-wrap has been used for years to encapsulate boats for storage, the idea formed to create a business to offer the same service from the maritime city of Plymouth in the South west of England. The business is still headed by founder Ewan Lake and supported by his dedicated team responsible for customer support, sales & marketing as well as the operations & installation of the products.
