Apprentice Estates Technician

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

To undertake the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative course and develop and execute the knowledge, skills, and behaviours relevant to their duties in this role, through training.    Assist the Estates Maintenance Technicians in the delivery of reactive maintenance duties that may include minor re-decoration and repairs, the making and installation of shelving, notice boards, and other fixtures and fittings. Complete documentation pre and post-task to ensure the job is undertaken safely and records of work undertaken are accurate. Learn new skills in undertaking safe compliance testing, to include of emergency lighting, fire alarms, fire extinguishers and fire doors, and water flushing across the University estate, including the recording, and registering of results. At all times work in compliance with university policies and health and safety standards including safe access and working in areas that may have access restrictions. 
Learn new skills in maintaining personal tools, and equipment.  Learn new skills in maintaining personal tools, and equipment. Work with the Estates Maintenance Technician to set up rooms for meetings, move furniture, and ensure equipment is in place as required. Carrying out cleaning duties as business requires disposal of rubbish and recycling as necessary.  Ensure external areas around the campus are free from rubbish and hazards. To execute any duties that are consistent with the grade of the post at the request of the Estates Maintenance Officer and Campus Operations & Accommodation such as grounds maintenance.

Training:

The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Property Maintenance Operative Level 2.

The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor to support and guide throughout the course. This is a Day Release programme, meaning you will attend Lincoln College 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.

Training Outcome:

This is a fixed-time position for 2 years with the potential for the position to be made permanent.

Working Hours :
37 hours per week (max 40). Regular pattern of days Monday to Friday. Approx Start and Finish times 8.30 am to 5 pm.
