Sterile Services Technician Apprenticeship

Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, instruments and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards. Rigorously checking, washing, laying-up and packing sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards. Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment (washer / disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively. Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak). Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person. To participate in staff development and training initiatives. To actively participate in the Performance Management System. To undertake any other duties or tasks as reasonably required.

Training:
You will be provided with 6 hours per week off-the-job training time to undertake this apprenticeship. This will be done at work.

On-going education leading to industry recognised qualifications and a defined career path within STERIS.

Working Hours :
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 10.00am to 6.00pm. There will be a requirement to work 1 in 6 weekends.
