Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Provide 1:1 support to a secondary-aged student with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), assisting them in developing independence in decision-making Assist the student throughout the day with academic tasks and holistic break-out activities Support the teacher with general teaching assistant duties, such as writing reports and leading small group lessons

Training:

At the end of the Apprenticeship, you will achieve the following:

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard with additional SEN units embedded into the training Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required.)

Additional SEN: This qualification emphasises:

Exploring the roles and responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator Understanding the strategies and techniques for supporting children and their families Increasing knowledge, skills, and behaviours of SEN codes of practice

The apprenticeship will be delivered via teams each month, with observations carried out in the workplace alongside your job role. There is no day release required for this training.



Training Outcome:
We hope that all successful apprentices will continue to full-time employment within our setting

Employer Description:
Lord Gowthorpe’s is a recently established Independent School for children with SEND. Beginning as an Alternative Provision in January 2023, we have expanded thanks to our focus on a child-centred, holistic approach to education, prioritising the emotional well-being of our students. Additionally, Lord Gowthorpe's Independent School is an accredited horse riding centre with a farm site that allows students to gain knowledge in horticulture, farm skills, and the care of various animals.

Working Hours :
Monday - Friday: 8.30am - 4pm (breaks to be confirmed)
