Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship

Working within our Bell/CB Contracts team in the Wembley area of London you will be working on a range of construction projects and construction sites. This could involve working internally or externally applying water-borne and/or solvent borne coatings and wallcoverings.

You will learn how to prepare surfaces for painting as well as learning about the broad range of different paint coatings and wallcoverings. You will have the opportunity to learn by working alongside competent tradespeople and will be appointed a Mentor who will support you with your training and development progression.

A fundamental part of this programme will be training on health, safety, wellbeing and environmental requirements within the property maintenance and construction sector.

Your typical duties in this role will include:

Duties

Work in compliance with occupational health, safety and environmental requirements to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of self and others at all times. Report in a timely manner any non-compliances. Carry out their work conforming to all current and relevant building regulations, quality standards and work instructions. Work to the construction programme, adapting to changes in schedule and requirements where necessary. Prepare the work site including setting out the work and selecting materials, tools and equipment appropriate to the project. Use the appropriate tools and equipment to prepare substrates and apply decorative materials to industry standards Carry out minor repairs or modifications to completed substrates/surfaces Collaborate with stakeholders including clients, customers and other construction trades Maintain a clear and safe worksite at all times, disposing of waste appropriately and sustainably Carry out continuous professional development to maintain knowledge of current and future developments affecting the role Receive, unload, move, lift and store materials to site for application following good handling practices to prevent injury or damage.

Training:
In England all Bell Group Painting & Decorating Apprentices will work towards the Painting & Decorating Standard (level 2). This is an industry recognised qualification. This is a 24 month programme with an End Point Assessment involving a practical assessment, multiple choice examination and assessor discussion. Apprentices will attend college on a day release basis and colleges are appointed based on best geographical location to the apprentice and/or place of work.

Training Outcome:
On completion and achievement of your apprenticeship programme there are a wide range of additional career opportunities within Bell Grou should you wish to progress. These include roles such as working foreman, site supervisor, contract manager, junior surveyor, operations manager and branch manager. We have an 'Aspiring Leaders' programme that supports the progression of apprentices into Supervisory and Leadership roles and this programme can be applied for on completion of the L2 apprenticeship programme. We aim to support the internal progression of all our apprentices and you have access to explore these opportunities and associated training over the course of your apprenticeship programme.

Working Hours :
Apprentices are contracted to work 39 hours a week: 8.00am - 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday. 8.00am - 3.30pm, Friday.
