Apprenticeship - Bus and Coach Technician (Mechelec)

The successful applicant will support the maintenance and servicing requirements of the East Yorkshire Motor Services Limited fleet of busses while learning and developing their trade to a nationally recognised qualification.

The apprentice will be enrolled onto the Bus & Coach Mechelec Engineering Technician Apprenticeship and will develop an understanding of the core fundamental understanding of mechanical elements to enable an apprentice to inspect and prepare a vehicle to DVSA standards to successfully achieve the requirements of the End Point Assessment.

The successful candidate can expect to carry out the following duties:

Core fundamental duties:

Foundation skills/materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices in the bus and coach environment  Engines and servicing  Electrical basic  Transmission systems  Electrical basic  Chassis systems i  Chassis systems ii  Core competencies (inspection & servicing)  Electrical intermediate

Mechelec Specific Duties:

Engine design and systems  Electrical intermediate  Transmission systems  Chassis systems  Core competencies mechelec - advanced engines  Core competencies mechelec - hybrid/canbus  Core competencies  Core competencies mechelec - diagnostic methods and faults  Core competencies mechelec - srs systems 
Core competencies  Phases 1, 2 & 3 recall  Epa preparation 

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hardworking person to kickstart their career in the Automotive Industry. 



Training:
Training is delivered in the workplace and via eight weekly college training blocks per year at S&B's specialist Automotive Academy in Bristol The apprentice will be assigned a workplace mentor and a college mentor who will offer support, advice, and guidance by monitoring progress via a purposely bespoke and developed electronic logbook that all parties can access any time Apprentices take a Gateway Assessment at the end of every year to progress until the completion of the End Point Assessment The apprentice will be required to travel to S&B's Academy and stay in hotel accommodation. All costs for travel and accommodation including breakfast and a two-course evening meal are met by the employer and there will be no cost to you.

Level 3 Bus and Coach Engineering Technician (Mechelec) Apprenticeship Standard qualification Level 2 Functional Skills in maths & English (if required)

Monday - Tuesday, 05:30 - 14:30 (lunch 30mins) Wednesday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:30 (lunch 30mins)
