Apprentice Multi Trade - Basingstoke

Being an apprentice at Ian Williams means real “hands on” work on real jobs. You will combine a combination of college and practical learning to study your chosen trade. You will get the opportunity to put your new skills into practice, while supported by the expert guidance of our experienced tradespeople - your own mentor.   

What will I be doing?  

The broad purpose of a Multi-Trade Operative is to conduct the general day-to-day maintenance to keep a range of properties in a good state of repair. You can expect to conduct routine maintenance tasks, and minor planned and responsive repair works, using a broad range of fundamental trade skills including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works and associated finishing trades including tiling, painting, and decorating. This is not the role for you if you are looking to specialise in one trade.  

The specific type of work will vary contract to contract, most contracts will be based in social housing.

The types of tasks we cover include:  

Maintenance range of domestic properties Ripping out and preparing empty properties for new tenants Planned and responsive repair work You will gain an overview and basic understanding of multiple trades including carpentry, electrical, plastering and plumbing Work both inside and outside in all weather, whether it’s boiling hot or freezing cold!

Training:

Property Maintenance Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:

Attend college to understand “the how and the why” of your chosen trade (usually 1 day a week)  Build a fantastic portfolio of evidence to go towards your End Point Assessment  Be a valued member of the team and contribute to the overall success 

Training Outcome:
Following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a role as a fully trained operative at Ian Williams.

Monday - Thursday, 8.00am - 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm
