North Yorkshire Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Children's Social Worker to join our Child Protection & Court Team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of children while working in a strength-based way with families to help them thrive.
You will be responsible for managing complex child protection cases, working within a well-defined systemic practice model that incorporates Signs of Safety and Family Seeing Methodology. Responsibilities
Manage complex child protection and care proceedings cases, ensuring effective planning and interventions.
Work directly with children and families to support them in achieving safe and positive outcomes.
Prepare and present high-quality reports for court proceedings, case conferences, and statutory reviews.
Use a strength-based approach to assess risks and develop intervention strategies.
Work closely with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, and legal teams, to safeguard children.
Maintain accurate, timely records and ensure compliance with child care legislation and statutory requirements.
Contribute to a supportive team environment, participating in supervision, training, and reflective practice.
Requirements
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England (without annotations or restrictions).
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in child welfare, including extensive experience in child protection and court work.
Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of childcare legislation, safeguarding procedures, and systemic practice models.
Other Requirements: Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for this role).
