Holding the responsibility to maintain lab cleanliness, supplies and tidiness (cleaning, disposal of Samples and expired stock, waste disposal etc.)
Assisting in maintaining laboratory equipment, equipment records within laboratory areas, assisting with the pipette calibration process and relevant lab archiving.
Sample management tasks (Receiving and booking in samples, processing of samples and checking of samples prior to analysis).
Gradual progression into more technical analyser maintenance and analysis.
Training:
You'll undertake a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship with HNC in Applied Science over the course of 24 months
You will study for a Level 4 Science Qualification alongside the apprenticeship
Distance-based learning
1 Week lab based residential each year
Training Outcome:Our aim during the 2-year programme is to produce confident, competent scientific technicians with the core skills to allow them to develop a career within the company. We then offer the option to progress to both a Level 5 or Level 6 Degree qualification or beyond to a Masters Qualification. Learning to prepare solutions of all materials required to perform the assays (where applicable)
Learning to document Quality Events (deviations) using the Veeva QMS system
Training:

Clean and disinfect animal cages, animal rooms, hallways and non-animal rooms as well as feeders, water bottles, and other supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and in particular those relating to Animal Welfare, GLP and Health & Safety
Collect data - manually or by appropriate computer software
Handle animals humanely and appropriately for the species
Animal behaviour and how it impacts their care and welfare
Exercise and socialise animals relevant to the species
Provide animals with food, water, toys, housing, etc. according to company standards
Work both individually and as part of a team
Work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of the work that is undertaken
Work safely in the Animal House, maintaining excellent housekeeping whilst following appropriate safety, environment and risk management systems
Training:You'll undertake an Apprenticeship in Animal Welfare over the course of 18 months. You will study for a Level 2 Apprenticeship, and Functional Skills in English and maths if required. The learning is remote and is one day a week.
