Duties to include, but are not limited to:
Excavation and Digging: Assist in digging trenches, foundations and other excavations as required for various construction projects
Site Preparation: Help prepare and clear construction sites by removing debris, vegetation, or any obstructions that may hinder the building process
Laying Foundations: Assist with the installation of foundations, concrete slabs and other structural groundwork components
Drainage Installation: Support the installation of drainage systems, including trenches for pipes and other related tasks
Concrete Work: Assist in mixing, pouring and finishing concrete for footings, floors and other construction elements
Paving and Roadwork: Help lay paving stones, flags, or other materials for driveways, paths, roads and other external surfaces
Levelling and Surface Preparation: Use levelling tools and other equipment to ensure surfaces are even and properly prepared for construction
Site Safety: Follow all health and safety guidelines on-site, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and the team.

Material Handling: Help load and unload materials
Tool Operation and Maintenance: Learn to operate and maintain various construction tools and equipment, such as diggers, mixers and compactors
Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior groundworkers and construction teams, taking instruction and assisting with tasks as required
Cleaning and Tidying: Ensure the work area is kept clean and organised, removing waste materials and ensuring tools are properly stored
Observing and learning how to pour concrete inside the installed framework
Observing and learning how to set out for foundations
Learning how to set out for drainage
Learning how to read site drawings
Training:
You will be working towards a Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship standard. If your English and maths aren't at GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent, you may also need to undertake Level 2 Functional Skills.
You will receive support from an assessor and an apprenticeship advisor
You will be required to attend Cornwall College Camborne on a weekly basis

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there might be opportunity to progress within the company

Come and join us on a Muddy Wellies Gardens apprenticeship, where we'll support you to develop a broad range of gardening skills and horticultural knowledge. You don't need experience for this role, just plenty of enthusiasm, lots of energy and a desire to learn.
As one of our Horticulture Apprentices, you'll be part of our Garden Team, helping to look after a range of varied and interesting client gardens in mid-West Cornwall.
You will meet your team each morning to help load the works vehicles before travelling to client gardens in the area. You will assist with, and learn how to; clear, maintain and develop client gardens with the Garden Team or to assist the Landscape Team in groundwork and and preparation for the build of new gardens.
Working alongside our experienced gardeners and/or landscapers you will carry out a range of tasks, you'll develop the skills and knowledge relevant to this apprenticeship standard.
You will learn the skills needed to maintain and develop client gardens including:
Safe use of garden machinery such as mowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers
Identify a wide range of plant species common to gardens in Cornwall
Recognise common garden weeds and the most effective methods for removal and control depending on plant type and situation
Seasonal tasks - what to do when
Pruning techniques
An understanding of how to work in a way to encourage and support nature whilst maintaining a visually pleasing garden space
Visual balance - colour, texture, shape, form, shadow; gardening can be highly creative, we will look at how to assess and to make decisions to result in maximum impact!
You will have the opportunity to learn about and assist the Landscape Team with the preparation and build of new client gardens including labouring and learning basic construction techniques to assist with a current garden build project.

You will be required to attend Duchy College Rosewarne on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training.Training Outcome:Once qualified you may progress to a qualified Gardeners roll.
