Assist with surveys, inspections and investigations for highway improvement and or maintenance schemes and other engineering projects as directed.
Assist with the varied day-to-day activities and general administrative duties of the section within the Engineering Design and Highway Management groups.
Assist with the preparation of reports, studies and estimates.
Training:Joining the thirty-month programme on a higher degree apprenticeship, you’ll have a structured training programme in either our Engineering Design or Highways and Traffic Management group whilst working towards gaining the level 4 apprenticeship for Civil Engineering Technicians at a local college.
Alongside completing your apprenticeship qualification, you’ll also have the opportunity to work in one or more of the following areas:
Highway Design
Bridges and Structures (including bridge maintenance)
Highways and Traffic Management, which maintains, operates and improves the highway network
Highways Development Management, working on the approval of developers' infrastructure plans
Training Outcome:There are no guarantees of employment at the end of the programme, but we would expect the apprentice to apply for further employment, ideally within the Council or within the wider Devon economy. Carry out personal safety checks

Prepare the boat for sea
Carry out safety checks and prepare deck and storage areas
Shoot, haul and clear fish and/or shellfish using a range of fishing gears
Maintain a stable and safe deck, working area and living space.
Land and sort the catch. Identify species
Assist with preparing meals and cleaning
Release fish in line with regulations and quota requirements
Process and store the catch using ice and refrigeration to maintain a quality product
Troubleshoot to address problems with the boat and fishing gear
Carry out ropework and line handling for mooring and berthing
Carry out and take part in safety drills, to ensure safe working boat and crew
Unload the catch and take to market
Training:Fisher Level 2.
You will spend one week at South Devon College and six weeks with your employer.Training Outcome:Potential to join a crew permanently if successful. Being an apprentice Multi Trade Operative means that you won't specialise in one trade, rather you will work on jobs that come under a range of different trades to repair and maintain properties
Ripping out and preparing empty properties for new tenants
Planned and responsive repair work
You will gain an overview and basic understanding of multiple trades including carpentry, electrical, plastering and plumbing. You will not gain an apprenticeship in a single trade i.e. Carpentry but will become a qualified Multi Trade Operative instead.
Work both inside and outside in all weather, whether it’s boiling hot or freezing cold!
