To contribute to the delivery of a highly effective Children’s Social Care Service, taking responsibility for working and managing a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision. (This will be dependent upon the complexities of the cases and the post qualification experience of the social worker).
To work with connected carers and children placed in a connected carers arrangement, providing support as appropriate.
To assess, plan, use evidence based analytical practice to implement and evaluate safeguarding measures to ensure all children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
To complete a range of assessment related to connected carers, including Special Guardianship, Viability and Connected Carers assessments.
To complete all assessments within regulated deadlines and timescales, and submit these reports to Court or Fostering Panel as required.
To attend Court, Fostering Panel and other forums as appropriate to present assessments.

To lead, manage and coach a team of newly qualified and experienced social workers and personal advisors responsible for delivering and improving services for children in care, care experienced young people and their carers/families.
To improve outcomes for looked after children and young people by developing effective partnership working with other Council services and partner agencies to ensure efficient delivery of the service.
To contribute towards delivering the council’s Corporate Parenting vision for Children in Care and Care Leavers in order to ensure the objectives and priorities are realised.
To be competent in all areas of the PCF at Advanced Social Worker level and The Knowledge and Skills Statement (KSS) for practice supervisors
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead, manage and motivate a staff team ensuring high quality supervision is completed regularly which includes case management oversight, timely decision making, the effective implementation and review of children’s looked after plans and care experienced young people’s pathway plans. Demonstrate expert and effective practice in complex situations that reflects a commitment to relationship and strengths-based practice, assessing and managing higher levels of risk and working collaboratively with children, young people and their families and carers.
Contribute to the learning and development of others in your team, including providing advice and support to less experienced staff on aspects of casework ensuring a high level of practice is demonstrated.
Supervise staff within your team including student social workers, newly qualified social workers, family support workers and/or personal advisors. The Team Manager will retain overall responsibility for the team.
Lead on an area of practice that is relevant to your service and be an expert in this area, within your service, providing training opportunities, consultation and sharing resources. Where available you should be part of a Medway Safeguarding Children’s Partnership (MSCP) Champions group for your area of specialism.
WORKING STYLE
The work style for this role has been assessed as ‘Hybrid’. This means the post holder will have a flexible work style and be able to work from a variety of locations. To provide a high quality and effective professional casework service for young people in care as they transition to independence, taking responsibility for working and managing a caseload within a framework of appropriate supervision, dependent upon the complexities of these cases and the social worker’s experience. Support the transition of young people from care to independence as they move from the Children in Care teams to the 16+ Care Leavers teams.
This role is a case holding role of 16, 17 and 18 year old young people in care, managing care proceedings and the associated tasks necessary, supporting young people by ensuring pathways are followed, prior to leaving care and handing over to a Personal Advisor within the team.
