The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced team supporting the teaching and learning of children aged 2-4 years.From 8am the Apprentice will support children arriving at the School for Breakfast Club. These children will then be supported in their transition to Nursery School.
During the Nursery School session, the Apprentice will work for half a term in each of the areas of the school. They will support the learning of all children aged 2, 3 and 4 years in the Nursery Classrooms. They will also experience supporting children’s learning in Forest School and in our adapted provision for children with complex SEND. The apprentice will learn about our curriculum and the teaching approaches we use to ensure that all children are recognised as individuals who make the best possible progress they can whilst at the school. The candidate will support children at lunchtimes and will have allocated time every week to complete course requirements, work set by tutors or to meet their school based mentor.
The apprentice will be part of an ‘Outstanding’ teaching team. They will learn how to observe and assess children, in line with the school policies and procedures and will plan interesting and engaging learning opportunities for all children. Under the guidance of teachers and Early Years Practitioners, the apprentice will be involved in working with children to support the education, personal, social and emotional development of pupils. Establish positive relationships to assist in structured learning activities and free play. Duties may include, supporting learning activities, assisting in the development of skills that support pupils' learning and supporting children with additional needs. The apprentice will assist in pupil supervision, pupil progress and development.
Training:
Safeguarding training will be completed annually
Paediatric First Aid Training will be completed.
The Apprentice will be supported by a Mentor in school who will guide them to understand the EYFS and our policies, procedures and curriculum.
Time will be allocated for the Apprentice to work with a College Tutor to complete their Level 3 qualification.
You will join an OUTSTANDING nursery school where training and professional development is highly valued. Staff wellbeing is a priority.
You will be supported to gain your Early Years Practitioner Level 3 qualification which is the stepping stone for a future career.
Training Outcome:The Apprentice will be a qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator who can apply for roles within Early Years Settings and Schools. There is no guarantee of a role at the end of this apprenticeship, but support will be given. Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and make both new and follow-up appointments.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
Handle completed repeat prescriptions for the patient and check names and addresses.
Registrations of new patients – computer data entry and medical records.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover in accordance with Practice policy and procedures.
Process patients’ changes of address – computer data and medical records
Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-GMS) services, accept payment and issue receipts.
Ensure a working knowledge of the telephone system during and after hours
Respond to all requests and queries from patients, team members and associated healthcare agencies
Ensure building security – have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
Input and extract patient information to and from the EMIS Web Clinical System as required.
Take messages and pass on information in a timely and appropriate manner
Action requests for repeat prescriptions and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.
Scan, fax and photocopy as required
Have working knowledge of the telephone system, during and after hours
Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mailFile and retrieve paperwork update as necessary
Clear and re-stock consulting rooms as required
Keep the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers updated, tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Inform line manager of low stock levels i.e. stationary or other supplies
Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary to meet the needs of the practice
Complete administrative tasks as requested, including requirements of Clinical Coding, management of medication documentation and processing, secretarial duties and support of private work functions, for which appropriate training will be provided.

The apprentice will receive a level 3 qualification in business administration following the completion of their course.
