The Client:
Our client is a well-established surveying services provider, providing a wide range of mapping services, including underground utility surveys and topographical land surveys.
The Role:
As a Land Surveyor / Senior Land Surveyor, you will be overseeing daily project management and on-site surveyor coordination.
Responsibilities:
* Conducting thorough land surveys and ensuring adherence to company protocols.
* Addressing on-site challenges including equipment, access, and safety.
* Collaborating with fellow surveyors, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
* Conducting quality control checks and managing CAD data.
* Guiding and training junior surveyors as needed.
* Offering technical assistance to Project Managers and internal team members.
Requirements:
Essential:
* Previously worked as a Land Surveyor or in a similar role.
* Minimum 5 years of land surveying experience.
* Relevant surveying qualification.
* Background in diverse environments and large complex surveying projects.
* Skilled in surveying equipment including total stations & GPS systems and AutoCAD.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Experience in staff mentoring / training.
* Valid UK driving licence.
* Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
* Report writing and data processing experience.
* Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation, Atlas SCC software, LSS.
* Knowledge of Laser Scanners.
* Understanding of surveying industry standards.

The role
The Fugro Marine Environmental team within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is now looking for an experienced and driven Marine Environmental Scientist to join the reporting team to be based in either our Portchester office or Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University campus on a 1 year fixed term contract to cover for maternity.
This is a pivotal role, reporting into the Senior Marine Environmental scientist, you will be analysing multi‑parameters datasets including photographic data, macrofauna data and physico‑chemical data and producing high quality technical reports.
The Marine Environmental team specialises in environmental site characterisation and environmental monitoring. The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
Your key responsibilities will include ensuring work is of the highest standard and quality ensuring the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution in accordance with company procedures. You will be involved in the preparation of environmental technical reports, utilising relevant statistical analysis of data and mapping software, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
You will ensure all activities are carried out to company specific standards and are in line with our QHSSE policies.
Who we’re looking for
Essential
BSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science, or equivalent;
Minimum of 1 year relevant practical experience;
Experience of marine macrofauna identification and/or physical and chemical analysis;
Experience of scientific/technical report writing;
Experience of statistical analysis;
Good Microsoft Office capabilities;
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Proven ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable
MSc or PhD in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent;
Experience of undertaking marine environmental surveys;
Experience of geographic information system (GIS) software;
Experience of interpreting geophysical data;
Report review and quality control experience;
Clean driving licence;
Experience of sensitive habitat assessments and protected habitats within the UK;
Renewables industry experience.

The Role - Flood Risk Consultant
- Prepare risk assessments and undertake site walkovers, CCTV and other survey
works
- Prepare technical reports (i.e. Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, ES
Chapters) and support the preparation of fee proposals
- Consult the water regulators, statutory authorities, and other stakeholders
- Liaise and provide advice to clients and stakeholders
- Manage time and budgets under guidance from the line manager
- Provide guidance and training for junior staff members
Minimum Skills / Experience Required - Flood Risk Consultant
- Familiar with Flood Risk and Drainage policy/guidance (England, Wales, and
Scotland)
- Experience preparing flood risk assessments/drainage strategies/water
environment ES chapters
- Familiar with drainage design software (Microdrainage, Causeway, GIS/CAD).
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, liaising with clients, and statutory
authorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A driving license is preferred
- Experience in water quality and nutrient neutrality is desired
- Being familiar with hydrological assessments and hydraulic modelling (i.e.- Flood
Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, ESTRY, HEC-RAS, FEH/REFH methodologies) would be
preferred
