Are you an experienced Plant Engineer looking for a field-based role where no two days are the same? We are looking for a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter / Field Service Engineer to join a growing service team covering the Preston area.
Working from home, you'll travel directly to customer sites carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery. You'll also occasionally work from the local depot, supporting workshop activities when required.

The Role
As a Mobile Plant Fitter, your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing faults, servicing and repairing construction plant equipment at customer sites.
- Carrying out planned maintenance and inspections to manufacturer standards.
- Completing repairs efficiently while maintaining high levels of quality and safety.
- Using electronic diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Completing job sheets, service reports and timesheets accurately using a tablet or mobile device.
- Ordering parts and liaising with the parts department to minimise machine downtime.
- Working closely with the Service Supervisor to manage workloads and customer expectations.
- Carrying out workshop-based repairs when required.
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience repairing and maintaining construction plant machinery.
- A recognised qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent in Plant Maintenance or Heavy Vehicle Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulics
- Electrical systems
- Transmissions
- Electronic diagnostics and fault finding
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Good IT skills for completing digital paperwork.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Experience working on telehandlers or similar plant equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Field Service Engineer We are currently recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a leading material handling business, working across customer sites throughout the Warrington, Liverpool and Preston areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems and dealing directly with customers.
You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of forklift trucks, including gas, diesel and electric models. The majority of trucks will be between 1.5 and 3 tonnes, although you may also work on larger trucks up to 10 tonnes.
The Role As a Field Service Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on forklift trucks
- Attending breakdowns and completing repairs
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective fault finding
- Completing service and repair reports accurately
- Ordering parts as required
- Managing your own diary and workload
