As an apprentice technician within our Bridges team, your role will evolve to be able to develop engineering calculations and sketches into 2D Drawings and 3D Models using tools such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and Tekla. You will be responsible for setting up, manage and coordinating your models and drawings with other engineering disciplines. You will also work closely with the design and client teams to enhance collaboration and to develop innovative design solutions. As part of Buro Happold's Bridges team, you will develop your engineering and digital knowledge and skills, specifically:
2D/3D visualisation and simulation of bridge projects
Communication of complex engineering principles to stakeholders digitally using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D and Tekla
Adherence to industry standards and regulations for engineering design and digital information
Within both team you would be expected to:
Develop your civil engineering knowledge, learning from university, colleagues and in-house training
Prepare technical drawings and schedules, BIM models and innovative design solutions
Develop your use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software to design engineering services on projects, learning from colleagues and in-house training
Attend site visits to further develop your engineering knowledge
Training:
Apprenticeship in HNC in Civil Engineering which includes the completion of a HNC and the achievement of an EngTech via ICE. Approved by the Engineering Council as meeting the learning outcomes specified for Engineering Technician (EngTech) at level 4
You will attend University on a day release basis, working 4 days per week (term time only)
You will undertake learning within the workplace to demonstrate the achievement of the KSB's to successfully complete the End Point Assessment (EPA)

Carry out planned, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on electrical systems across the site.
Work in full compliance with site permit-to-work systems.
Diagnose faults and troubleshoot issues across electrical and instrumentation equipment in hazardous areas.
Use the CMMS system to process work orders, record time, and support preventive maintenance planning.
Support improvement works and minor modifications in line with engineering and site standards.
Assist with wider engineering activities across the site as required.
Stand in for the E&I Coordinator during periods of absence when necessary.
Requirements:
Time-served Electrical / Instrument Maintenance Technician with demonstrable experience in a chemical manufacturing or similar high-hazard industrial environment.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or a related discipline.
18th Edition (BS 7671) qualified.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across electrical and instrumentation systems.
Good communication skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively.
Comfortable using computerised maintenance and management systems.
