Training:The apprentice will be enrolled on the Level 4 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship delivered by London South Bank University (LSBU).
Training location: London South Bank University, 103 Borough Road, London, SE1 0AA, alongside workplace learning at Robert Bird Group's London office.
Training schedule: Training will typically be delivered on a day-release basis, with the apprentice attending university during term time and working within the business for the remainder of the week.
Duration: The programme is delivered over 36 months (3 years) and combines academic study with practical workplace experience on live engineering projects.
Off-the-job training: The apprentice will receive protected study time in line with apprenticeship requirements, including lectures, coursework, project work, mentoring and professional development activities.Training Outcome:On successful completion of the Level 4 Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship, apprentices are expected to progress into a permanent role as a Civil Engineering Technician within Robert Bird Group, supporting the design and delivery of infrastructure and development projects.

A motorcycle technician services and repairs motorcycles, motorised scooters, all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), tricycles and vehicles where the rider sits astride the frame, within either the franchised or independent motorcycle sector.
A motorcycle technician works on all of the systems of the motorcycle. The nature of the work ranges from replacing components through to rectifying complex faults with the aid of specific diagnostic methods and equipment. Motorcycles require individual set up and adjustment in relation to rider requirements which range from leisure, commuting, commercial and competition use.
Every day is different within the Motorcycle Service department. As a Motorcycle Technician/Mechanic apprentice, some of your duties will include:
Basic repairs and maintenance: Differing front and rear suspension systems, Front and rear, and combined braking systems, Frame construction and knowledge of welding and brazing methods, Handle bar direct control, steering setup and geometry systems, Wheels and tyre specifications, characteristics and uses to include competition, off road, road use and touring, Engine / power source, including two stroke, four stroke, single and multiple cylinder construction, plus electric propulsion
How to service, inspect and maintain motorcycles to ensure safe operation meeting all legal, licensing and customer expectations and requirements
Diagnostic principles, trouble shooting, logical problem solving and repair techniques
Electrical systems including engine management, lighting, monitoring and instrumentation, security and accessory fitting (including electronic fault diagnosis)
Completion of legible and accurate paperwork for the customers and centres records

Today’s motorcycle technicians have to demonstrate expertise in the technical side of their role. They need strong problem solving skills and a good grasp of the theoretical, practical and safety aspects of motorcycle systems.
They must be able to work independently and also operate as an effective team member, understand how their workshop and a motorcycle business function from a commercial perspective, develop good customer handling skills and identify ways in which they can work efficiently.Training:Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face-to-face block release weeks at our state-of-the-art training centre.
Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the Honda Institute, in Bracknell, to complete their apprenticeship training. All training-related costs are fully covered as part of the programme, including travel, accommodation, and meals.
In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your continued learning as you apply the skills and knowledge you have gained through the remote sessions and at the Honda Institute.
This is a fully rounded training experience where you will build life skills that last and gain both apprenticeship qualifications and brand certifications.

In your role, you will be accountable for:

To update income to Open Accounts ensuring that VAT is correctly applied on each category of income

These tasks support the creation of items such as financial statements and other data. Their work is carried out under supervision following set procedures for most tasks. Such tasks may include financial data entry, reconciling figures, trial balances, double-entry bookkeeping, handling accounts payable and receivable. The accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting accountants with routine duties. These can vary depending on the team structure and size of business. They use digital finance and accounting systems and tools to collate and enter data.
An accounts or finance assistant’s work would include tasks such as financial and accounting data entry and basic bookkeeping duties. They will also work with sales or purchase ledgers. They will run calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct and may be involved in the recording of cash transactions.
All Accounts/Finance Assistants will gather work-based evidence and attend classes to meet the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
We will be delivering the industry recognised AAT (Association of Accounting Technician) Certificate in Accounting Level 2 as part of this apprenticeship standard. This qualification comprises four mandatory units:

Build up your portfolio of evidence on-going

Training Outcome:Whilst there will be no guarantee of a substantive position with the college at the end of the period, the college will guide, support and encourage suitable apprentices to apply for appropriate vacancies as and when they arise.
The college has a very good record of supporting workers through in-house apprenticeships, and many apprentices have secured employment with the college beyond their apprenticeship.
