I am recruiting on behalf of a well-established building services consultancy that is looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to take ownership of projects, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Electrical Design Engineer who enjoys a mix of technical design, client engagement, project delivery, and team leadership. You will work across a varied portfolio of projects and have the opportunity to influence both project outcomes and business development activities.
The Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for the delivery of electrical building services design projects from initial feasibility through to completion and handover.
You will act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and wider design teams while ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards.

- Leading electrical design projects from concept through to completion
- Attending client, contractor, and design team meetings
- Undertaking condition surveys, feasibility studies, and technical reporting
- Carrying out site surveys and gathering project information
- Producing detailed electrical designs and specifications
- Preparing electrical calculations using industry-standard software
- Providing project cost estimates and budget information
- Reviewing tenders and making technical recommendations
- Assessing contractor design submissions and working drawings
- Responding to technical queries throughout construction
- Monitoring project progress, quality, and programme performance on site
- Attending site progress meetings and conducting inspections
- Witnessing testing and commissioning activities
- Managing project finances and commercial performance
- Coordinating internal resources and project delivery teams
- Supporting and mentoring junior electrical engineers
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities where possible

A specialist independent building services consultancy has an immediate requirement for an intermediate electrical design engineer to join their team in their London office.
They work in a number of sectors including commercial, residential, educational and retail.
Working alongside the Lead Engineer, you will be communicating with the client and project teams, responding to their clients' needs, assisting in developing and producing reports, specifications, drawings, supporting/undertaking site inspections and overseeing testing and commissioning activities, following all health and safety, QA and environmental policies and procedures.
They are looking for
- A minimum of 2-5 years' UK building services experience
- Sound technical knowledge in Electrical Engineering Design and knowledge of current standards and legislations.
- Proficiency in electrical calculation software packages (Amtech, Dialux, Relux), AutoCAD. Experience of working in the BIM environment (REVIT) and MicroStation will be beneficial; however not essential.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Project Engineer:
Manage the installation and commissioning of company equipment, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision, purpose, and values.
Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols at all times, ensuring site-specific risk assessments and method statements are completed before commencing any on-site operations.
Identify any gaps in training or knowledge required for task completion and inform the Engineering Manager.
Prepare the specifications, scope and estimate for equipment installation, ensuring the availability of necessary materials. Coordinate all site staff to keep them informed of schedules and oversee it through to completion.
Oversee the installation of all company equipment, including all mechanical and electrical aspects (if qualifications permit).
Ensure that the completed installation can be adequately serviced, considering site conditions.
Qualifications required for the Project Engineer:
To excel in the role, the candidate must have experience within a similar installation or commissioning role. They must be able to demonstrate their project management skills and showcase their technical proficiency within the industry. As this is a role with national coverage, they must be able to travel UK wide with overnight stays where necessary. An understanding of industrial laundry equipment and chemical dosing systems would be desirable but is not essential.
