CNC Machinist Apprentice Your day kicks off with a quick team meeting to go over the jobs lined up and any safety reminders. Then it’s off to your machine station, where you’ll set up tools and materials ready for the day’s tasks. You’ll spend most of your time using either traditional or CNC (computer-controlled) machines to shape metal parts. You’ll follow detailed drawings to make sure everything is accurate, checking your work as you go. If something’s not quite right, you’ll learn how to adjust the machine or tools to fix it. Throughout the day, you’ll work closely with experienced machinists and quality inspectors, picking up tips and learning how to spot and solve problems. By the end of your shift, you’ll clean down your area and record what you’ve completed. Fitter Apprentice You’ll start your day by reviewing the engineering drawings for the job you’re working on. These show you exactly how the parts should fit together. After gathering your tools and materials, you’ll begin assembling mechanical components—this could be anything from pumps to pipework. You might be building new equipment, helping install it onto a submarine module, or even diagnosing and fixing a fault. You’ll use a mix of hand tools and power tools, and you’ll always be thinking about safety and precision. You’ll work alongside skilled fitters and engineers, learning how to follow procedures and solve real-world problems. At the end of the day, you’ll update your progress and prepare for tomorrow’s tasks. Inspector Apprentice Your day begins with checking which parts or assemblies need inspecting. You’ll use measuring tools like micrometres and gauges as well as 3D scanning and laser tracking equipment to check that everything meets the required standards. You’ll inspect parts at different stages—sometimes right after machining, other times after assembly. If something doesn’t meet the spec, you’ll work with the machinists or fitters to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. You’ll learn how to read technical drawings, follow inspection procedures, and keep accurate records. It’s a role that requires attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and safety. Training:As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll study at Weston College, gaining a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3. Your programme will combine academic study with practical training in our facilities at Ashton House. Inspection Engineer
We are seeking a motivated Inspection Engineer to join our Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) Service Line. In this role, you will support both onshore and offshore project preparation activities, including the setup of online data recording systems, offline data editing, and quality control for structural and pipeline inspections. While offshore, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of Inspectors, Surveyors, Engineers, Data Processors, and ROV personnel to ensure the effective operation of inspection and survey equipment, and the accurate, efficient collection of data. You will maintain regular communication with the onboard team and, when necessary, with clients. You will also work in partnership with the MAI Client Deliverables Team based in Aberdeen, who will provide continuous support throughout the project lifecycle. Your role and responsibilities: Ensure the safe, efficient and profitable execution of all ROV platform and vessel-based pipeline and structural inspections. QC of Inspection data recording, quality control of real-time video data and ensuring that, where required, all data sheets are completed accurately. Ensure anomalies identified during online and offline inspections are accurately recorded and reported to the Inspection Coordinator, Superintendent/OVM and Client in a timely manner determined by the magnitude of the finding and anomaly criteria. Assist in project reporting and delivery in accordance with Fugro and client specifications and document control parameters; document any variations to the workscope or procedures and inform the Client Deliverables department. Promote teamwork at the worksite among all associated parties and ensure good communication lines, especially during shift handovers. Ensure awareness, understanding and control of all computer operating systems relating to the content of the project or contract. Ensure inspection equipment calibration procedures are followed and/or undertaken by third parties. Where necessary, compile and check data from these other sources such as Cathodic What you’ll need to thrive in this role: Formal qualifications to a minimum of HND level in Engineering or IT. CSWIP 3.4u or 3.3u. Offshore experience working with ROVs as an Inspection Engineer and/or Coordinator in UKCS. MS Office experience. Good IT skills. About the RoleThis role sits within their clients IT team. QC Lab Technician - Weekend Shift
JOB DESCRIPTION New Weekend Shift: Friday - Sunday 6:00AM - 6:30PM Rust-Oleum Corporation is a worldwide leader in protective paints and coatings for both home and industry. We offer a wide product range including decorative fashion paints, durable industrial roof repair coatings and, of course, the famous rust-fighting formula that started it all. Pay: $23-$26/hour. This position offers a 36-hour workweek with compensation equivalent to a standard 40-hour workweek. Weekend Shift Differential: $3.00/hour Schedule: Friday-Sunday, 6:00AM - 6:30PM The primary result expected from the Lab Technician will be to complete and document performance testing of various coating attributes by making laboratory samples of paint technologies including color evaluations and color matching as well as other laboratory functions and by assisting in the development and optimization of new or existing products to support revenue growth and profits of the corporation. Typical tasks for this position include (but are not limited to) the following: Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Develop an understanding with supervision of the fundamentals of coatings technology. Compile results of tests and analyses. Set up and conduct experiments, tests, and analyses using standard paint test procedures and physical and chemical techniques. Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials, and document all experimental results. Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams, and by conducting laboratory and plant safety audits. Prepare paint batches for products and following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas. Preform lab support activities which may include routine maintenance or upkeep of equipment and lab areas such as salt fogs, QUV'S, milling room, hot room, or controlled temp. & humidity cabinet. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION DUTIES/TASKS: Satellite Hazardous Waste Accumulation Production tank/Cleaning/filling 1. Production Quality Lab Technicians may have to dispose of product samples, line flush, off-spec product, or expired product retain samples. This waste material is transferred to the hazardous waste satellite accumulation drum. 2. Production workers clean equipment and tanks pre-rinse, wipe, scrub, and final rinse surfaces using wash solvent, brushes and rags. Dirty solvent is transferred to the satellite accumulation area. 3. Transfer used wash solvent to the satellite accumulation drum or tank. 4. Ensure hazardous waste storage or accumulation containers remain sealed except during the addition or removal of waste. 5. Ensure Hazardous Waste storage containers are clearly labeled "Hazardous Waste." 6. Care must be exercised when introducing waste into the satellite accumulation drum. Do not drop on floor or area. In the case of any spilled material, spills or drops shall be cleaned up immediately. 7. When 55 gallons has accumulated, the satellite accumulation container must be moved to a permanent hazardous waste storage area within 3 days and relabeled "Hazardous Waste." REQUISITE SKILL, EDUCATION, OR OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the chemical characteristics of the wastes which they are assigned to handle or control (i.e., flammability, toxics, incompatibilities, etc.). 2. Type of protective equipment and clothing to be worn. 3. Knowledge of what to do or who to notify in the event of a release, fire, or explosion. 4. Knowledge of communication and alarm system. 5. Know procedures for using facility emergency equipment. 6. Predetermined responses and methods to control releases, fires, or explosions. 7. Ability to shut down operations.
