The duties within this role include:
Assist the dentist/therapist/hygienist during all clinical procedures
Carry out and be responsible for all Health and Safety and Cross Infection policies and procedures within the dental surgery.
Assist the dentist during all clinical procedures in the surgery which will include fillings, root canal treatment, bridge crown and denture preparation and extractions.
Assessments, this may also include minor oral surgery.
Assist the hygienist with scale and polish and oral health promotion plus charting and periodontal assessments.
Record and store notes, charting, medical history and radiographs on either paper based or computerised systems.
Reception duties which include answering the telephone, greeting patients, making appointments and recording them correctly on the system.
Disposing of all waste correctly, including clinical, sharps, specialist, amalgam, and normal domestic.
Assisting with the preparation of the patient and equipment during the taking of x-rays and processing and storing all images.
Training Outcome:The successful candidate will work towards achieving a Level 3 qualification in dental nursing whilst gaining valuable experience in a dental practice.
Upon completion of the Level 3 qualification, you will be an experienced and qualified dental nurse, and as such, you can continue building up skills that will always be in-demand. You could progress to acquire specialist qualifications in areas such as sedation, dental radiography, and oral health education.
You may take on more responsibilities as a trainer for other dental nurses or move into a management role within your dental practice. There will be limited sessions that will require college attendance at our Walsall Campus, during the training period. All other sessions remain virtual on a once-weekly basis. Full-time apprentices will typically spend 15 months on programme (before the gateway) working towards the occupational standard, with a minimum of 6 hours per week off-the-job training.
The purpose of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) is to test that an apprentice is fully capable of doing their job before they receive their apprenticeship certificate. It also helps to demonstrate that what an apprentice has learned can be applied in the real world.

**To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse (RGN) with a current active NMC Pin**
As a Nurse your key duties include:
Ensure the highest possible standards of care, assessing residents' needs and wishes, and developing services to enhance their quality of life
Champion appropriate independence and personal choice; developing, reviewing and updating care plans to meet our residents physical, social and psychological needs
Oversee all aspects of medicine management on your shift – ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered, in accordance with company policies and current legislation
Build the positive reputation of the Business; liaise professionally with visitors and other external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines – identify, investigate and resolve risks proactively
Support, guide, teach and mentor others in line with the NMC Code, following its guidance at all times
The following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role:
Knowledge and experience with administering medication safely
Be confident in creating and updating individualised care plans and documentation
Deliver hands on nursing care to ensure the well-being and health of our residents
Have an excellent understanding of the standards set by CQC
The successful Nurse will receive an excellent salary of £21.32 per hour and the annual salary is up to £48,780.16 per annum. We currently have permanent vacancies for both days and night shifts available. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:

Successful candidates will provide clinical support to dentists, hygienists and patients. You will also assist the reception staff in any clerical duties and perform any other tasks as reasonably requested by the principal.
Other duties include:
Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practices of health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
Ensure the care and welfare of patients in a friendly, caring, helpful, courteous and professional manner
Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed and being responsible for recording patient information on the practice database
Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
Complete laboratory request forms, and keep records of work sent, received and fitted
Training:Dental Nurse Apprenticeship Standard - Level 3
This course is delivered using a blended delivery model, an apprentice will spend 2 days per month at Bradford College undertaking classroom-based learning in addition to regular workplace assessments.
Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will be awarded the following:
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Dental Nursing
Functional Skills in maths and English Level 2 (if applicable)
