As a Cabling Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cabling systems for a variety of clients. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. You will work in both structured environments (such as office buildings) and potentially more dynamic settings (construction/industrial sites), ensuring that all systems are installed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate, and test network cables in both commercial and Industrial environments.
Ensure all cabling and equipment are installed in compliance with safety and industry regulations.
Conduct site surveys to assess cabling requirements and design solutions tailored to the client’s needs.
Perform fault-finding and troubleshooting on existing cabling installations.
Maintain accurate documentation of installations, including drawings and as-built information.
Provide technical support and advice to clients on cabling and network systems.
Work closely with other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as a Cabling Engineer, Telecoms Engineer, or similar role.
Strong knowledge of cabling systems, including fibre optic, Cat6/6a.
Installation of Wi-Fi devices
Familiarity with the tools and equipment used in cabling installations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with clients and teams.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver’s license is essential
CSCS card is essential

Typical Placement can include:• Learning the principles of engineering both academic and practical• Repairing and maintaining electro-mechanical l equipment• Following all relevant Company, Health and Safety & Quality procedures and processes• Repairing and maintaining all site equipment• Installing/altering and repairing electrical distribution and cabling• Working with a team of mechanical fitters, who will teach you how to operate and maintain the full range of equipment• Assisting work managers with electro-mechanical problems at their sites• Reporting any unsafe plant or operations to your line managerTraining:This Level 3 Maintenance and operations engineering technician apprenticeship includes spending 30 weeks in Birmingham in Year 1, on a residential basis, where the travel to Birmingham, accommodation on a half board basis (including breakfast and evening meal) and travel to and from the training facility is paid for by Aggregate.
In years 2 and 3, you will attend Make UK on block release, 1 week in every 5, again staying in the hotel and paid for my Aggregate. Training Outcome:Your future is yours to dream and develop.
