I am currently working with a Fleet Company who are looking for a Workshop Controller / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Foreman/ VMU Workshop Manager/ Engineering Manager in Bicester to add to their team. The position includes managerial duties with some work necessary occasionally on the tools.
Workshop Controller / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Foreman/ VMU Workshop Manager/ Engineering Manager:
- To have and maintain excellent knowledge of Transport Refrigeration, Mechanics and Electrics
- To work within and implement a policy of preventative maintenance
- To be able to install any equipment to O.E.M. standards
- To ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to
- To manage the day to day operations of the workshop facility and staff
- To ensure that all service and inspection documentation is correctly completed
- Assessment of the workload requirements, job assignment to meet those requirements
- To monitor job sheets and quantification of time
- To ensure workshop equipment is maintained in line with legislation and company procedures
- To maintain inventory records for workshop equipment
- To ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to
- To oversee the procurement of parts
Requirements for Workshop Controller / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Foreman/ VMU Workshop Manager/ Engineering Manager:
- Previous experience as an Workshop Controller / Workshop Supervisor / Workshop Foreman/ VMU Workshop Manager/ Engineering Manager is beneficial but NOT essential.
- Excellent knowledge of transport refrigeration, mechanics & electrics
- Class 1 license desirable in order to test drive vehicles.
- Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures

Technical
Time Served apprentice, relevant City and Guilds (Part 3) qualification or full Technical Certificate or National Certificate or higher. Skills specific NVQ Level 3 or higher or equivalent.
Teacher qualified (minimum PTTLS), A1 or equivalent qualification (be able to demonstrate working towards may be considered) and a V1 qualification.(or be prepared to achieve V1 within 12 months of being in post)
Managerial experience within medium-large engineering educational setting.
Knowledge and experience to contribute actively to decisions to optimize delivery and consult in changing landscape of qualifications.
Expertise in engineering/manufacturing qualifications – to lead onboarding and RPL.
Personal
Empathy with young people, ability to plan, deliver training, and assess outcomes.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire colleagues and students.
