Exciting brand new opportunity has come up at my clients Hillington Glasgow site as an experienced Workshop Controller to join their dynamic team in their state of the art facility. It is the perfect opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Workshop Controller to advance their career in a premium brand environment. As a Workshop Controller, you will supervise and motivate our team of Technicians & Apprentices and pro-actively review, prioritise the daily workload.
As a Workshop Controller you will be a crucial part of our business and the After sales Department. You will be reporting into their Service Manager who is a pleasure to work with and will be giving you ongoing support to ensure that you have the tools needed to perform to the very best of your ability! Furthermore you will also be able to do brand specific training which will enable you to progress within this premium brand and the motor trade industry.
The successful candidate for our Workshop Controller position will be responsible for the day to day running of the workshop, ensuring the service and repair technicians achieve their daily targets. Assisting the Service Manager in ensuring the department provides the best possible service to the customers and achieves agreed profits and retention levels. As part of your daily role you will be responsible for maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction by implementing relevant quality checks.
- Ensuring that all working practices comply with company, DVSA, health and safety and OEM policy
- Making sure all service work is carried out correctly, competently and on time, with customer satisfaction in mind
- You will also maintain relationships with the vehicle manufacturer and provide support to Technicians during repairs and ensure that high standards are achieved and maintained within the workshop and surrounding areas
- Liaising with colleagues and other departments to ensure a top quality service for customers
- Scheduling work to meet customer needs, taking into account workshop targets, the complexity of each job and the availability of parts
- Assisting with technical challenges by going above and beyond to support the team and writing technical reports
The ideal candidate for this role will have motor industry experience managing a team within a busy Service/Workshop environment. You will have a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) as well as a solid understanding of COSHH legislation, trade practices, and consumer legislation. Having awareness of quality control and inspection requirements of a workshop is a must.

Ensure repairs stay within budget and meet recall or defect requirements.
Communicate other maintenance needs to workshops.
Customer Service and Expectation Management:
Provide customer service to workshops, suppliers, and customers.
Manage expectations and pass on queries beyond the role.
Quality Review and Documentation:
Review workshop maintenance electronic job sheets for compliance, validity, timeliness, and completeness.
Close open external workshop jobs once work is confirmed (e.g., warranty).
Liaison with External Workshops:
Collaborate with external workshops to ensure customer service levels, cost, and work content meet requirements.
Work Tracking and Budget Management:
Track “In Progress” work and escalate issues as needed.
Review maintenance budgets and contracts, ensuring proper coding and recharging.
Verify legal certifications received from external suppliers.

The role
As a Senior Pilot Technician you will assist the Supervisor in the smooth operation and maintenance of the Remotely Operated Vehicle System.
Coordinate planned maintenance schedules for ROV, TMS, LARS and all associated equipment and tooling.
Assess weather conditions and operational parameters for safe Launch/Recovery and ROV operations.
You will ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the company Business Management System and project specific documentation.
Ensure that all activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.
Identify personal training needs, bring them to the attention of the department manager and to take full advantage of the training opportunities provided.
To be safety aware, e.g. awareness of legislation/guidance to include reporting accidents – managing safety of team when required to supervise a shift.
Maintain a high standard of communication of operational and safety information to team members when supervising a shift as well as directly supervise teams during night shift.
Who we’re looking for:
Personnel with at least one main Technical Discipline with knowledge and experience in other fields.
Competent and capable of piloting an ROV and the use of manipulators.
Experience and knowledge of working with different ROV’s, Subsea Tooling and LARS.
Background working on a variety of subsea operations and in different operational conditions.
Has experience working as part of a team during mobilisations and demobilisations.
Personnel that are safety aware and work to the highest of safety standards in line with the company safety management system.
Works well as part of the team during an emergency, can communicate effectively with all other team members.
Capable of pro-active involvement with projected work scopes to meet client requirements.
Demonstrate working knowledge of the company BMS and associated ROV procedures.
Act as a mentor and ensure Pilot Technicians carry out all tasks in accordance with company procedures.
