As a HGV Technician, your primary responsibility will be ensuring customers' vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational through high-quality maintenance and repair work. The successful HGV Technician will benefit from specialist BPW and LOLER training, alongside health and safety e-learning programmes designed to enhance technical knowledge and professional growth.
Duties and responsibilities: -
Carrying out major and minor repairs on heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and commercial fleet equipment.
Completing routine inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance activities, including tyre replacement and oil changes.
Maintaining workshop stock levels and ensuring a clean, safe working environment.
Assisting with fault diagnosis and planning effective repair solutions.
Keeping accurate maintenance and service records.
Providing roadside breakdown assistance when required.
Completing documentation, warranty submissions, and associated administration accurately and efficiently.
We are very keen to hear from HGV Technicians who have the following: -
Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or IMI qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
Previous experience within commercial vehicle maintenance or repair.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities.
Ability to identify worn, damaged, or defective components in line with DVSA standards.
Full UK driving licence relevant to vehicle classes operated.
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

An opportunity is available for two HGV Technicians to join a commercial vehicle dealership in Reading. One position focuses on servicing, maintenance and repairs, while second one requires manufacturer accreditation at HGV Diagnostic Technician level.

What We're Looking For:

* Good communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
* Manufacturer accreditation at HGV Diagnostic Technician level for the diagnostic position.
* A Level 3 qualification is desirable for the diagnostic position. Candidates with over five years of proven, time-served experience may also be considered.
Salary & OTE
The salary package depends on the position, experience and relevant manufacturer accreditation. The advertised OTE figures include potential earnings from overtime, Saturday working and productivity bonuses,
* HGV Service Technician: Basic salary up to £40,000, with OTE up to £58,375 per annum, Candidates with an IMI Level 3 or Level 4 electric vehicle qualification may be eligible for a further £2,000 on their basic salary.
* HGV Diagnostic Technician: Basic salary up to £45,000, with OTE up to £64,000 per annum.
* An additional £3,000 annual shift allowance is available.
Working Hours:
* 40 basic hours per week.
* Monday to Friday, alternating between 6:00 am-3:00 pm and 1:00 pm-10:00 pm.
* Saturday rota: one in three weeks. Saturday working hours vary by position.
